Keira loving Lioness life
Keira Walsh has only won four England caps – but she already feels at home among the Lionesses squad.
The Manchester City midfielder made her debut against Kazakhstan last November before featuring in all three matches at the SheBelieves Cup in USA.
Walsh was one of nine City players who helped England finish runners-up to the host nation.
She said: “It was an amazing experience.
“We’ve got a new manager and a lot of other new players in the squad so there have been a few changes, but I do feel more settled in the squad now. Having so many Man City girls helps in that respect.
“It’s a really good group of girls so it has been easy to fit in.”
Walsh continued: “I thought I did OK. [Head coach] Phil [Neville] spoke to me after the matches and told me what I needed to do going forward.”
And the 20-year-old is loving life under the new gaffer.
She added: “Phil trusts us to play an attacking style of football.
“He wants us to be brave and get on the ball. He wants us to play forward where possible and take risks. He doesn’t mind if you make mistakes, he just wants us to be brave on the ball.
“Everyone is relishing the opportunity to play under him.”
Walsh and her England team-mates are next in action in a World Cup qualifier against Wales at St. Mary’s on Friday 6 April.
